It would not be the third round of the FA Cup without Non-League outfits bidding to cause the almightiest of upsets, and this season is no exception.

Only three teams outside of the Football League remain in this year's competition, with clubs from the National League as well as the National League North & South still competing.

Sides from the fifth and sixth tiers entered the oldest national cup competition in the world during the fourth round of qualifying, which is one round before the first round proper.

Can any of the clubs match Lincoln City's monumental 2016-17 FA Cup run? Here, DAZN News looks at which teams have made it this far.

National League offer 25

Boreham Wood (National League)

  • Fourth round of qualifying: Eastbourne Borough 0-3 Boreham Wood
  • Round one: Boreham Wood 3-0 Crawley Town
  • Round two: Boreham Wood 3-0 Newport County
  • Round three: vs. Burton Albion

Boreham Wood have enjoyed the most incredible of seasons, and they are the only National League side remaining in the FA Cup.

Luke Garrard's men were only promoted to the fifth tier last term and remarkably sit second with two games in hand on league leaders Carlisle United.

Indeed, their barnstorming form has stretched to everyone's favourite cup competition, and they will be eyeing a third successive upset when they face League One strugglers Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The National League's surprise package defeated Eastbourne Borough 3-0 in the fourth round of qualifying before demolishing League Two sides Crawley Town and Newport County by the same scoreline to reach round three.

Macclesfield

  • Fourth round of qualifying: Macclesfield 1-0 Stamford AFC
  • Round one: Macclesfield 6-3 A.F.C. Totton
  • Round two: Slough Town 1-3 Macclesfield (after extra time)
  • Round three: vs. Crystal Palace

Macclesfield have been handed the grandest of rewards for reaching the third round as they host FA Cup holders Crystal Palace at the Leasing.com Stadium.

John Rooney's side are the lowest-ranked club remaining in the competition, currently sitting 15th in the National League North table.

The Silkmen avoided higher opposition in all of their previous rounds, defeating Stamford AFC, A.F.C. Totton and then Slough Town on penalties to make it this far.

If Macclesfield pull off the near-impossible against Oliver Glasner's side, then they will equal their best-ever run in the competition.

Weston-super-Mare

  • Fourth round of qualifying: Weston-super-Mare 1-0 Needham Market
  • Round one: Weston-super-Mare 2-1 Aldershot Town (after extra time)
  • Round two: Chelmsford City 0-2 Weston-super-Mare
  • Round three: Grimsby Town

Like Boreham Wood, Weston-super-Mare have been able to transfer their superb league form into the FA Cup.

Scott Rogers' side sit second in the National League South table and are only behind table toppers Worthing by one point.

The Seagulls shaded Needham Market before an impressive victory over fifth-tier outfit Aldershot Town in the first round.

Boreham Wood's triumph over league opponents Chelmsford in round two means that they will face League Two's Grimsby in round three.
