Manchester City swooped for Omar Marmoush in January after seeing him score goals for fun at Eintracht Frankfurt during the first half of the season.
The Egyptian international quickly settled into life at the Etihad and could be one of the stars of the show at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Ahead of the tournament, we run the rule over City’s big-money recruit.
Born in Cairo in 1999, Marmoush began his career with Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premier League before Wolfsburg signed him in 2017.
He debuted in May 2020 and then spent time on loan spells at St Pauli in Germany’s second tier and Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
Marmoush established himself at Wolfsburg before joining Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
He flourished there and Manchester City signed him in January 2025 for £59million, after which he quickly acclimatised to the Premier League.

Marmoush is blessed with exceptional agility and balance, which allows him to evade opposition defenders with clever movement.
Adept at manipulating possession in tight spaces, the Egyptian can drive forward with the ball and use his speed to outpace opponents from out wide or a central position.
Significantly, Marmoush’s intense pressing is a key component of his game and a quality much admired by Pep Guardiola.
The danger he presents can take away some of the attention of City’s goal-machine Erling Haaland, and they have already shown signs of a good understanding.
Marmoush scored 20 goals for Frankfurt in the first half of the season – but drew a blank in his first four appearances after joining City in January.
But the 26-year-old empahtically broke his duck when scoring a hat-trick in the 4-0 home win over Newcastle United on February 15.
He has since maintained his impressive scoring rate in the Premier League and will now aim to reprise that form at the Club World Cup.
Marmoush can operate as a lone striker, in a central strike partnership, or as a winger.
Like his Egypt team-mate and Liverpool fans’ favourite Mo Salah, the City star can cut in from the flank and threaten his opponents’ goal.
Whereas Salah often uses his educated left boot to beat defenders from the right wing, Marmoush does likewise from the opposite flank with his favoured right foot.
