Paris Saint-Germain will go into next week's FIFA Club World Cup as one of the favourites for the newly revamped tournament after a season that has seen them dominate domestically and win their first-ever Champions League.

Luis Enrique's exciting young team have been a joy to watch this season, especially French forward Ousmane Demeble, whose form this campaign has seen him enter the conversation for this year's Ballon d'Or contenders.

Dembele is set to be one of the stars in the US as PSG begin their tournament in Group B alongside Atletico Madrid, Botafogo and Seattle Sounders.

Speaking exclusively to DAZN, the 28-year-old revealed his excitement for the competition and insists the French champions are going out there with the intention of lifting the trophy.

He said, "Yes, we are very excited because we've heard all about this competition. What's more, it's in the USA, which is a beautiful country.

"I think this FIFA Club World Cup is going to be exceptional, especially a year before the World Cup is there. It's going to be huge and we're looking forward to being there.

"I think there's going to be a mix of different kinds of football.

"There's Botafago in our group, then we have Atletico Madrid, who we are more familiar with, and we've never played against Seattle.

"There'll be different kinds of football, but we're looking forward to being there and taking on these teams.

"As we said at the start of the season, we're going to try and win every trophy. We know the first match will be crucial, but we're going to try and give it our all to win this competition."

FIFA Club World Cup 2025

Dembele has netted 33 goals so far in 2024-25, making it the best-ever return of his career, as he helped the Parisians retain their Ligue 1 title and make history with their victory over Inter Milan last weekend.

However, he is quick to credit his teammates for bringing the best out of him and despite talk of individual awards, remains focused on winning trophies for his club.

"As I said quite often, it's a team effort," he added.

"The team plays a massive part in helping me score goals and provide assists.

"We improve game by game, and I think my successful season is down to my team. It's because of them I'm in such good form.

"Individual accolades are just a bonus for me. The main aim is to win titles with Paris Saint-Germain."
