Nearing the midway point of the Premier League season, we're starting to see some trends forming as teams have had plenty of time to shape their respective identities.

Matchweek 17 saw those trends continue, as all of Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa won their matches while at the bottom of the table it was Wolverhampton Wanderers who continue to set the standard for bottom-feeding in England's top flight.

We try to make sense of it all in the latest Power Rankings, which are not meant to look at the overall picture, but rather to provide a snapshot based on current form, strength of opposition, and other factors. As always, these rankings are based on Premier League play only.

Here are DAZN News' Power Rankings after Matchweek 17.

1. Manchester City (▲1)

Back-to-back-to-back 3-0 league victories propel the Sky Blues to the top of the power rankings, despite Aston Villa's continued purple patch. Dominance is rewarded.

Next match: Dec. 27 at Nottingham Forest

2. Aston Villa (▼1)

Unai Emery's men extended their Premier League win streak to seven games (10 in all competitions), although they were forced to fight for their latest victory by Manchester United.

Next match: Dec. 27 at Chelsea

3. Arsenal (▲1)

The Gunners brought back the classic "1-nil to the Arsenal" against Everton, and it wasn't too convincing, but a win's a win.

Next match: Dec. 27 vs. Brighton

4. Chelsea (▼1)

The Blues' inconsistency will drag them further if they don't find a way to end it soon.

Next match: Dec. 27 vs. Aston Villa

5. Liverpool (▲2)

Unbeaten in five games, the Reds have rebounded nicely after their horrific skid.

Next match: Dec. 27 vs. Wolves

6. Newcastle (▼1)

Squandered an early two-goal lead against Chelsea at home.

Next match: Dec. 26 at Manchester United

7. Crystal Palace (▼1)

Two losses on the bounce for Palace. A big defeat at Leeds is not a result a European contender suffers.

Next match: Dec. 28 vs. Tottenham

8. Brentford (▲4)

A shut out victory at lowly Wolves isn't too impressive, but other teams' results allowed the Bees to leapfrog into the top 10.

Next match: Dec. 27 vs. Bournemouth

9. Everton (▼1)

Arsenal's latest clean sheet victim.

Next match: Dec. 27 at Burnley

10. Leeds United (▲1)

Don't look now, but this team's undefeated in four games.

Next match: Dec. 28 at Sunderland

11. Manchester United (▼2)

The Red Devils felt that they did enough to defeat Aston Villa. Unfortunately, they did not.

Next match: Dec. 26 vs. Newcastle

12. Fulham (▼2)

The Cottagers weren't overly impressive in their win over Nottingham Forest, but they are primed for a good run through the holiday period.

Next match: Dec. 27 at West Ham

13. Nottingham Forest (▲2)

Losing and still climbing means that the teams below them are in much worse shape.

Next match: Dec. 27 vs. Manchester City

14. West Ham (—)

Shipped three goals to Man City, but that's just a regular occurence now for the Sky Blues' opponents.

Next match: Dec. 27 vs. Fulham

15. Tottenham (▼2)

Lost the match at home to Liverpool and lost their most creative player to a red card. Another poor outing.

Next match: Dec. 28 at Crystal Palace

16. Sunderland (▲1)

The Black Cats are the least convincing side in the top nine of the Premier League standings, but these power rankings know what's up.

Next match: Dec. 28 vs. Leeds United

17. Burnley (▲2)

The 1-1 draw with Bournemouth is better than the four losses that came before it, I guess.

Next match: Dec. 27 vs. Everton

18. Brighton (▼2)

Winless in four after a scoreless draw with the aforementioned Sunderland.

Next match: Dec. 27 at Arsenal

19. Bournemouth (▼1)

The Cherries haven't won in eight matches. The only reason they are not at the bottom is because of Wolves' historic ineptitude.

Next match: Dec. 27 at Brentford

20. Wolves (—)

They tied for the worst start to a Premier League season after 17 games with their latest loss. Woeful.

Next match: Dec. 27 vs. Liverpool
