Southend United and Sutton United will be striving to end 2025 on a high when they meet in the final round of National League fixtures on Tuesday night.
Despite Ben Goodliffe seeing red in the first half, the Shrimpers secured an unlikely 1-0 win away to Braintree Town on Boxing Day. That victory means that Kevin Maher's side remain in seventh position and three points ahead of play-off rivals Halifax Town.
As for the U's, they played out a goalless draw with relegation-threatened Aldershot Town at Gander Green Lane. While Sutton's recent form is promising, they are only three points above the drop zone, although they do possess a game in hand on those around them.
The home side will fancy their chances on home turf in what will be only the third meeting between the two teams.
