William Gallas urges Chelsea to strike Alejandro Garnacho deal with Man Utd as soon as possible

Chelsea are widely reported to be in talks with Manchester United to sign young Argentine star Alejandro Garnacho, who no longer seems to be in Ruben Amorim's plans at Old Trafford.

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, a deal between the clubs for the 21-year-old winger will need to come together quickly.

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas, who witnessed many deadline days during a near 20-year playing career that also included stops at Arsenal and Tottenham, believes the Blues may be taking their time in getting a deal done, as a later agreement could force the Red Devils to lower their asking price.

However, Gallas warns that Chelsea shouldn't take too much time. 

"Clubs try to leave things to the last minute sometimes, to strike a tough deal," Gallas told Gambling Zone. "But they need to be careful.

"Garnacho is a good player, and yes maybe they can drive his value down by waiting. However, I remember players at Tottenham who would have to wait until the very last day of the transfer window for Daniel Levy to let them leave for the biggest price. Daniel would always make sure he got what he wanted for players."

Should a deal be struck, Gallas feels Garnacho could help Chelsea but he's not fully convinced the player will be a game changer.

"I think Garnacho is a good player," he said. "Will he be a difference maker at Chelsea? I’m not sure, but he has lots of potential."
