The Miami Dolphins (1-6) travel to take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-3) on Sunday, and although it may not appear to be a big game, there's a lot at stake.
Head coach Mike McDaniel is on the hot seat, as are quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and general manager Chris Grier. Reportedly, Tua still has McDaniel's backing, and McDaniel has support from owner Stephen Ross, but for how long?
Miami’s offense is limping, with Tagovailoa trying to steer the ship amid mounting pressure. The absence of star receiver Tyreek Hill hasn't helped, and to make matters worse, tight end Darren Waller is likely to miss time after suffering an injury last week.
It beggars belief that a team with a single win isn't last in their division, but there are two similarly dysfunctional teams in the AFC East.
The only real bright spots for this unit have been the outstanding contributions from running back DeVon Achane and speedy wideout Jaylen Waddle. Sadly, their efforts have not been sufficient to halt the Dolphins' decline.
The Falcons will lean heavily on Bijan Robinson, who has truly joined the NFL elite with a series of incredible performances this year. He was quiet by his high standards in Week, but should bounce back here against the NFL's worst run defense.
Quarterback Michael Penix, a player many expected to become "the guy" in 2025, has been wildly inconsistent, even with talented receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts at his disposal.
For Miami, it’s about finding any spark and avoiding the turnovers that keep killing drives. If they do that, maybe, just maybe, their players, head coach, and general manager keep their jobs for another week or two.
For Atlanta, it’s about control. Dominate up front, feed Bijan, and let Zach Harrison and Kaden Ellis pin their ears back once the Dolphins fall behind.

Miami leads the all-time series 9-5-0. The Falcons won the last meeting between the two in 2021.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, but where is the Dolphins' sense of urgency? Tua is starting again, McDaniel is still in place, and it seems like they're destined for another woeful performance here.
We suspect Bijan will have a huge game. So big, in fact, that his backup, Tyler Allgeier, may carry the load toward the end of the game once the game is out of reach.
We have a feeling Jordyn Brooks, the NFL's leading tackler, is going to be kept busy in a losing effort.
Falcons 33 - 17 Dolphins
