Clinched

NFC:

The Seahawks rallied from behind to score an improbable comeback win against the Rams on Thursday Night Football in Week 16, and in the process, became the second NFC team to clinch a playoff spot.

That loss meant that the Rams, who secured their postseason berth one week earlier by defeating the Detroit Lions, lost ground to Seattle in both the division and the battle for the NFC's No. 1 seed.

The Bears and 49ers clinched playoff spots on Sunday after the Steelers beat the Lions in a wild finish.

The Bears won on Saturday evening in overtime on a 46-yard game-winning touchdown pass to DJ Moore, booking their spot following the Detroit loss.

The Eagles clinched the NFC East after beating the Commanders on Saturday afternoon.

The Packers became the sixth NFC team to earn a playoff spot following the Detroit Lions' loss to the Vikings in Week 17.

AFC:

The Broncos clinched a playoff spot in Week 15 with a 34-26 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

The Patriots snapped their three-year postseason drought on Sunday night in Week 16, beating the Baltimore Ravens, 28-24.

The Indianapolis Colts' loss to the San Francisco 49ers on MNF in Week 16 meant the Jaguars, Chargers, and Bills - all of whom won on Sunday - secured playoff spots.

In the hunt

NFC:

  • Carolina Panthers (8-7). Their Week 16 win over the Buccaneers meant they leapfrogged Tampa Bay into 1st place in the NFC South. A rematch in Week 18 could decide which team makes the playoffs. As things stand, their odds of reaching the postseason are 43%.

AFC:

  • Pittsburgh Steelers (9-6). They lead the AFC North and have a two-game advantage over the Baltimore Ravens in second. The Browns await in Week 17, before a Week 18 clash against the Ravens. Currently, their odds of clinching a playoff spot stand at 91%.
  • Houston Texans (10-5). Their incredible seven-game winning streak virtually assures them a playoff spot (97%). They're only a game back on the Jaguars and could yet win the division.

On the outside looking in

NFC:

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-8). It's a two-horse race in the NFC South between the Bucs and the Panthers. Mayfield and Co. have a 57% chance of making the postseason.

AFC:

  • Indianapolis Colts (8-7). The Colts' season has unravelled fast, and they now have almost no chance of making the playoffs (3%).
  • Baltimore Ravens (7-8). It looks like the Steelers have their number this year. Sunday's loss to the Patriots, coupled with the injury to Lamar Jackson, means they're highly unlikely to be make the postseason (9%).
