Donald Trump becomes first sitting president to attend Super Bowl as film, music and sports stars flock to New Orleans

Donald Trump made Super Bowl history when he became the first sitting president to attend the NFL’s showpiece game. 

The US president arrived at the Superdome in New Orleans two hours before the clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs kicked off, meeting with family members of the victims of the New Year’s Day terrorist attack, which saw 14 people killed. 

President Trump was joined by a host of sporting stars and celebrities for the big game.

Hollywood stars Bradley Cooper and Jon Hamm - fans of the two teams in action -  introduced the Eagles and Chiefs respectively, while Taylor Swift was in attendance to support her partner Travis Kelce

Beyonce and Jay-Z were also pictured before the game kicked off at the 83,000-capacity Superdome.

Two of the best soccer players on the planet were also present to take in the action, with Argentina and Inter Miami icon Lionel Messi being joined by Manchester City’s Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder Rodri.

The clash sees the Kansas City Chiefs looking to achieve the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat in NFL history, while the Philadelphia Eagles were looking for revenge after suffering a 38-35 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII two years ago. x
