The Minnesota Vikings are one of the prime candidates to draft a rookie quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft.

This year's draft features maybe five first-round quarterbacks. After losing Kirk Cousins in free agency, the Vikings need a quarterback.

However, former Minnesota Vikings star Kyle Rudolph thinks a rookie quarterback would be a mistake.

"I think about Kevin O'Connell, and how he operates his offense, his last two quarterbacks were Kirk Cousins and Matthew Stafford," Rudolph said on the Up & Adams show.

"There are lots of good quarterback prospects in this draft. However, a rookie quarterback will not operate the offense like Kevin O'Connell wants his offense operated.

"Talking to the guys in Minnesota, I realized they ask a lot of the quarterback. The game plans are massive, and the volume of plays is enormous."

Rudolph hinted that Minnesota may not need to draft a round-one quarterback, "They have Sam Darnold there. He's an NFL quarterback who understands the system. Does Minnesota use their two first-round picks to improve other positions?"
