The Minnesota Vikings lost 22-6 on Sunday Night Football to the Atlanta Falcons, which you can watch on NFL Game Pass on DAZN (excl. US and China). Now, they will be without their starting quarterback for the time being.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that quarterback J.J. McCarthy will be out for two to four weeks due to a high ankle sprain suffered against the Falcons. Carson Wentz is expected to replace McCarthy in the starting lineup in Week 3 versus the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals (2-0).

"We are not planning on having [McCarthy] on Sunday," head coach Kevin O'Connell said. "I don't likely see this being any kind of short-term IR thing, but I do want to see how he responds to treatment this week."

On Sunday night, McCarthy went 11 of 21 for 158 yards and two interceptions. He was also sacked six times and fumbled the ball on three occasions. So far this season, McCarthy is 24 of 41 for 301 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. McCarthy's QBR is 20.4, which ranks No. 32 of 33 qualified quarterbacks in the NFL.
