Thursday Night Football brings together two teams desperate to get back on track.
The Chargers (4-3) are reeling from a humbling loss to the Colts. The Vikings (3-4) are still smarting from their defeat to the Eagles and need a win to climb out of the NFC North basement.
Justin Herbert threw for 420 yards and three touchdowns last week, but his mistakes keep hurting. Playing behind an injury-hit offensive line isn’t helping, and neither was Kimani Vidal's quiet outing on the ground.
Herbert still has plenty of weapons, including Quentin Johnston, Keenan Allen, Ladd McConkey, and tight end Oronde Gadsden - and it's a group that can light it up when in sync.
Carson Wentz, meanwhile, is coming off his worst outing of the year. The Vikings have to be sharper in the red zone after resorting to field goals too often in Week 7.
Jordan Mason has been quiet lately, though he faces a Chargers run defense that’s looked soft. Whether Mason takes advantage of this matchup or not, expect Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison to have big games.
There’s no shortage of star power on either defense, but consistency has been missing. Minnesota needs more from Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Dallas Turner, while Los Angeles needs Derwin James, Daiyan Henley, and Khalil Mack to set the tone in prime time.

Minnesota holds a slender 8-7 lead, but the Bolts won their most recent meeting in 2023.
Carson Wentz could be in for a rough night against a Chargers secondary that’s held opposing quarterbacks to the third-lowest passer rating in the league. Even so, expect Justin Jefferson or Jordan Addison - maybe both - to find ways to make plays.
With that said, I’m taking the Chargers to handle business at SoFi and get the win in a close contest.
