Former Ravens' HC John Harbaugh is in high demand. Which team should he choose next?

Few coaching names carry more weight in the NFL than John Harbaugh’s. Fired by the Baltimore Ravens at the end of the 2025 season after 18 years in charge, he instantly became the most coveted head coach on the market.

His résumé is difficult to rival: a career winning record, consistent playoff appearances, and a Super Bowl title with the Ravens in the 2012 season. Longevity, adaptability and credibility across generations of players make Harbaugh a rare commodity – a proven culture-setter rather than a schematic gamble.

With several teams circling, the question is no longer whether he’ll coach again, but where.

NFL Game Pass ROW

New York Giants

The Giants offer scale and pressure in equal measure. Ownership has historically valued stability, which would appeal to Harbaugh, and although the roster lacks depth, it has talent. Standout defensive players like Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence and Abdul Carter would give him a starting point, and Jaxson Dart produced an impressive rookie season at quarterback.

Harbaugh’s ability to stabilise chaotic organisations is well established. The prospect of resurrecting one of the NFL’s most historic franchises will surely appeal to the veteran coach.

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta may be the most balanced football situation on the board. The roster is young, athletic and largely free of long-term financial anchors. There is defensive speed, offensive versatility and a front office that has shown willingness to modernise.

The quarterback position remains the swing factor, with second-year signal-caller Michael Penix Jr. recovering from a season-ending ACL tear, but the Falcons could offer Harbaugh the rare chance to shape both culture and roster in an eminently winnable division.

Tennessee Titans

Cam Ward 16x9

The Titans feel like a natural fit for Harbaugh stylistically. Physical, defense-minded and rooted in organisational identity, Tennessee’s culture aligns with his football values.

However, the roster is in transition. Beyond star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and quarterback Cam Ward, the first overall pick in last year’s draft, the Titans severely lack top-end talent.

Ownership has historically empowered strong head coaches, but this would likely require a longer horizon before contention returns.

Miami Dolphins

If Harbaugh wishes to walk into a situation where he can begin stacking wins quickly, the Dolphins will appeal, as evidenced by their solid late-season form.

Five wins from their last eight games weren’t enough to save Mike McDaniel’s job, but it showcased a team capable of competing when operating a scheme that maximises their strengths.

The quarterback situation is bleak in Miami, however, where Tua Tagovailoa is unwanted yet tied to a costly contract that will make it difficult to move him on.

Cleveland Browns

Emotionally, Cleveland would be the most fascinating landing spot. A division rival of his former Ravens, a physical roster, a defense capable of championship-level performances and, perhaps significantly, the team Harbaugh grew up rooting for.

The question is stability at quarterback. Rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders failed to authoritatively stake their claim for the starting spot under centre, and the Browns continue to be hamstrung by Deshaun Watson’s expensive contract.

But with two first-round picks in the upcoming draft and a wealth of young talent in several departments, there is hope the arrival of a Harbaugh-like figure could lead to a quick turnaround.
