Which quarterbacks will be the top picks in the 2024 NFL Draft?

The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is now just days away. The preparation will kick into high gear at the combine.

The 2024 NFL Draft is just two months away. The draft is an opportunity for teams to reload and rebuild their rosters.

This year's draft features plenty of talented quarterbacks. It is arguably the most talented quarterback class since 2018.

That year, Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson all emerged from the draft.

Who will be this year's quarterback stars? Here is DAZN's list of the top five quarterbacks available in this year's draft.

1. Caleb Williams - USC

Caleb Williams is the 2024 prototype quarterback prospect. Standing at 6' 1" and weighing 215lbs, Williams has the frame that NFL coaches and scouts covet.

The Washington-born prospect also boasts the accolades; he is a Heisman Trophy winner, the 2022 College Player of The Year and a former unanimous All-American selection.

Over three years of collegiate football, Williams has thrown for 9,782 yards and 93 touchdowns to 14 interceptions.

The 22-year-old owns a flamethrowing arm and solid playmaking skills with his feet. Some pundits have compared him to Patrick Mahomes. Williams is the best quarterback available in the 2024 NFL Draft.

2. Drake Maye - University of North Carolina

Hot on Williams' heels is North Carolina's Drake Maye. Despite being 21, Williams owns a robust NFL-ready frame. He weighs 230lbs and stands at 6' 4". Teams love quarterbacks with muscular physiques; quarterbacks take plenty of punishment, and teams require a player who can absorb the hits.

Moreover, Maye has a fastball throwing arm. He can let the ball fly out of his hands with high velocity.

And he is more mobile than his weight would suggest. The North Carolina Tar Heel has thrown 63 touchdowns across 26 starts.

Maye is not as polished as Williams, but the upside is tantalising.

3. Jayden Daniels - Lousiana State University

LSU's Jayden Daniels is the wildcard quarterback of this year's draft. The 23-year-old rocketed up draft boards following a dream 2023 season.

Daniels threw 40 touchdowns, 3,812 passing yards, rushed for 1,134 yards and scored ten rushing touchdowns.

Daniels ran away with all the 2023 accolades. He won the Heisman Trophy, the Manning Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the College Player of The Year Award.

A four-star recruit from high school, Daniels is a legitimate dual-threat quarterback.

Dual-threat quarterbacks are in vogue; Lamar Jackson is a two-time MVP. Daniels is a better runner than Maye and Williams.

Teams will value Daniels' skillset and untapped potential.

4. JJ McCarthy - Michigan

Michigan's National Champion quarterback, JJ McCarthy, is fourth. He is not as mobile as Jayden Daniels, and does not have the power of Caleb Williams and Drake Maye.

Nevertheless, McCarthy is an intriguing prospect.

McCarthy is an effective scrambler and highly accurate in the short and intermediate areas of the field.

He is unlikely to be a day-one starter, but with development and time, he could become a starting-calibre NFL quarterback.

A team may draft McCarthy on day two to develop him as the understudy to a more experienced quarterback.

5. Bo Nix - Oregon

Bo Nix once resembled the Charlie Sheen character from Major League. Nix had all the physical tools but no consistency.

That is why Auburn let him go. But Nix rebounded at Oregon. In two seasons with the Ducks, Nix has thrown 74 touchdowns to ten interceptions. In 2023, Nix threw a career-best 4,508 yards.

Nix's performances won him the 2023 PAC 12 Offensive Player of The Year Award. Nix is one of the older quarterback prospects.

And there are concerns over the level of competition in the PAC 12. Nonetheless, Nix possesses valuable NFL traits.

He throws the ball with effortless power and weighs in 217lbs. Those traits bode well for the transition from College to NFL.
