David Adeleye sends menacing warning to Filip Hrgovic ahead of Riyadh clash
David Adeleye is adamant his punching power can "knock out a horse" ahead of his meeting with Filip Hrgovic.
Adeleye and Hrgovic will meet on August 16, live on DAZN PPV, ahead of Moses Itauma's heavyweight main event against veteran Dillian Whyte.
After winning the British heavyweight title against Jeamie TKV on April 5, Adeleye has made a significant step up against an opponent in Hrgovic who was once in pole position to challenge for a world title.
This world title pursuit for Hrgovic was stopped by Daniel Dubois last year, but the Croatian bounced back with a unanimous decision win against Joe Joyce in an intense 10-round battle.
Adeleye has shown in his past two wins that his punching power is key, and speaking to The Ring, he warned Hrgovic of what his hands are able to produce ahead of fight night.
"I can knock out a horse, I’m telling you," Adeleye said.
"This power is no joke, it’s not a gimmick, I don’t go there relying on it."
It is not just the win which Adeleye will be wanting, but also the chance to redeem himself in Riyadh where his meeting Hrgovic takes place.
His last trip to the Saudi Arabian capital saw him take on Fabio Wardley two years ago, but for Adeleye it was one which saw him suffer his first defeat as a professional.
If Adeleye can get past Hrgovic, then those memories of being stopped by Wardley will all but vanish and prove that he can thrive against established names at heavyweight.
