Anthony Yarde predicting an explosive performance in David Benavidez world title fight

DAZN
Benavidez vs Yarde live on DAZN PPV - Nov 22

Britain's Anthony Yarde is confident that his punching power will be enough to beat WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez when the pair clash in Riyadh on November 22

Broadcast exclusively live on DAZN PPV, Yarde will be making a third world title challenge after beating domestic rival Lyndon Arthur in a trilogy fight last April

Yarde fell short in his two previous world title challenges against Sergey Kovalev and Artur Beterbiev, but he gained plenty of plaudits for his performances.

Compared to Kovalev and Beterbiev, 'The Mexican Monster' offers a different type of test, and Yarde acknowledged this during his appearance on Inside The Ring.

Explaining why he fell short in his previous world title contests, Yarde said, "I’ve seen a lot of David Benavidez, I rate him highly, he says he rates me highly as well.

"I feel like the more I rate somebody, the better I perform, the better I prepare.

"The Russian style, their school of boxing is very disciplined, it’s very hard to get around, in my opinion, experience was to my detriment when I fought those guys.

"I think if I fought any of them again, I’d beat them."

Yarde's meeting with Benavidez for the WBC light heavyweight title should be an entertaining and fan-friendly fight.

Both men are willing to trade blows, sometimes to their disadvantage, as Benavidez was knocked down in the eleventh round of his win against David Morrell in February.

This has given Yarde a massive boost in confidence. He claims that he can knock out the 30-fight unbeaten American.

"I feel that if I land on Benavidez, the fight’s done, especially with the way I’ve been training."

Yarde's clash with Benavidez headlines an exciting Ring Magazine card featuring pound-for-pound star Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez and former undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney, who bids to become a three-weight world champion in the Saudi Arabian capital.
