Cruiserweight champion linked to Jake Paul title defence sets rematch for controversial win

Badou Jack will defend his WBC cruiserweight title for a second time this year against Noel Mikaelian after their long-awaited rematch was dated.

The Swede, a three-weight world champion, retained his current strap in a majority decision win after two years of inactivity this May in Riyadh.

Mikaelian, who had held the title during Jack's absence,  stepped in to face the champion on short notice after Ryan Rozicki pulled out of the bout.

Now, the German will get his rematch on December 13 against a man who has been sensationally linked to a world title bout with Jake Paul in the past.

'The Problem Child' spoke to DAZN News earlier this year about his hopes to pursue a potential future championship opportunity at cruiserweight.

Australian Jai Opetaia currently holds the IBF belt, while Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez is in possession of the WBA and WBO straps within the division.

The former returns to the Gold Coast for a mandatory defence with Huseyin Cinkara in December while the latter currently has no opponent set.

Paul himself returns to the ring in November for an exibition bout against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta 'Tank' Davis in Miami on November 14.
