Ben Whittaker’s celebrations were short lived on Saturday as he returned home from his first-round win over Benjamin Gavazi to find out his home had been broken into.
Whittaker was in devastating form as he headlined at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham and he delivered fir his local following with a punch perfect display that was over in a matter of seconds.
After announcing himself as a major threat to the light-heavyweight division, Whittaker looked set to plot what was going to be a huge 2026, but he was immediately brought back down to Earth just hours after his latest success.
“Highs and lows of the sports,” said Whittaker when speaking on Instagram. “Come back, house has been burgled.”
Whittaker used the camera on his phone to show his followers the damage, and it appeared that those responsible entered his property after breaking a window.
A minor IBF belt won by Whittaker was stolen but it was unclear what other damage had been caused from watching the short video.
Despite appearing positive about the robbery, perhaps still on a high from his stunning victory over Gavazi, Whittaker offered an incentive for anyone who can provide information regarding the incident.
“Wensbury, I got a big, big reward. Find these people, let me know.” Let me know. Hit me up in the DMs. Big reward. Love.”
