Undefeated David Benavidez admits he remains hungry to achieve the biggest prizes in boxing as he prepares to take on Anthony Yarde this weekend.
Boxing returns for its latest mammoth Middle East adventure on Saturday as superstars return to Riyadh for The Ring IV , with a host of world titles on the line.
One week after The Ring: Unfinished Business lit up London on DAZN Pay-Per-View, a host of fighters head back to Saudi Arabia in search of further glory.
Benavidez will mount the first defence of his WBC light-heavyweight title against Yarde after his failed attempts to take on Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Throw in Brian Norman Jr., Devin Haney , Abdullah Mason, Sam Noakes, Jesse Rodriguez and Fernando Martinez, and you've got an all-timer card primed for action.
Looking ahead to his showdown with Yarde, 28-year-old Benavidez told DAZN News : “To be honest with you, I'm not where I'd thought I'd be at [in my career].
“The only reason why I haven't achieved what I set out to achieve is because I've been denied fights.
“By this point, if I'd had a crystal ball, I'd be unified world champion.
“But that hasn't happened yet and it makes me even more motivated to work even harder because I have big goals.
“I've won world titles in two different weight classes and I'm still chasing that vision that I'm so badly seeking.
“But it's going to come soon. With time and patience, everything comes and I'm going to be ready, 100 percent, when it comes.
“I’m really just chasing the titles and looking to beat whoever is the best in my division. Right now it’s about patience.”
Londoner Yarde, 34, reckons he can test Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) in the Saudi Arabian capital this weekend.
In his last outing, Benavidez beat Cuba’s David Morrell (12-1, 9 KOs) unanimously on points nine months ago at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Benavidez added: “Anthony Yarde is a great fighter, a veteran, and he’s fought a lot of great fighters as well.
“And that’s where we going – now we’re just picking off the great fighters on the side and waiting for the big one.
“Becoming unified world champion and then just becoming the dominant fighter that people want to see, plus an example for the youth to follow.””
