Zach Parker admits his light-heavyweight move came in part thanks to Canelo Alvarez's status as he prepares to face Joshua Buatsi.
The Briton faces his fellow countryman on Saturday, November 1, at Manchester's Co-op Live, with the blockbuster bout live on DAZN.
Parker previously operated at super-middleweight before stepping up to a division currently crowded with domestic prospects.
Ahead of his fight, the star promises to take each bout as it comes, as many weigh in on the next move of unified champion Dmitry Bivol.
"At super-middleweight, Canelo had it all," he exclusively told DAZN News. "There were not many opportunities. That's why I've come up.
"In Britain, you can see there's so many big fights to be made among the lads at light-heavyweight. We don't know what Bivol is doing.
"We'll take every fight step by step. I'll get Buatsi out of there, and then we can look forward to these massive fights. I can do the weight easily.
"I've added strength and conditioning to camp, to help build a little more. I could still get down to super-middleweight, but I can make this quite easy."
Joshua Buatsi vs Zach Parker is live on DAZN this Saturday night, November 1. Watch the fight and whole card with a DAZN subscription.
