Conor Benn has questioned the relationship between Chris Eubank Jr and his new trainer Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre ahead of their rematch on November 15.

Eubank Jr pulled off a surprise at Wednesday’s launch press conference when he arrived with McIntyre, who also coaches pound-for-pound king, Terence Crawford. Eubank Jr and McIntyre previously worked together for one fight in 2023 but went their separate ways afterwards.

Benn claims he is “flattered” that Eubank Jr feels the need to change his coaching team after winning their first fight but doubts whether there is a genuine bond between his rival and McIntyre as they prepare to link up again.

Benn told Sky Sports: “I'm flattered that he needs a new trainer to prepare for a little old welterweight in me. He thought it was going to be a walk in the park. So, it’s flattering.”

Comparing his own training setup with head coach Tony Sims to Eubank Jr’s, Benn added: “He's (Sims) not just my trainer, he's my coach, he's my mentor, he prepares me for battle in every area. I've been with my trainer for 10 years. We grow together, we learn together.

“That's the difference. It's not just transactional. It's very transactional [for Eubank]. They probably don't even like him."

Benn hinted that Eubank Jr is unlikely to listen to his corner’s advice in the rematch as his ego will take over again.

“I just think when you're not humble you can't really gain wisdom,” Benn explained. “I think the beginning of wisdom is humility. We just both have different mindsets.

"We would have learned. Me and my team would have learned.”

Eubank Jr won his only fight with McIntyre by his side two years ago when he exacted revenge on Liam Smith in their rematch.

He has since won his last two fights without McIntyre but has now called upon the American’s services once more as he aims to settle his rivalry with Benn.
