'I hope he pulls out' - Dillon Danis makes brutal prediction for MMA fight against Warren Spencer at Misfits 22
Dillon Danis says Warren Spencer is "a dead man walking" ahead of their MMA fight at Misfits 22.
The pair will square off for the inaugural MF MMA light heavyweight title on the Ring of Thrones card on Saturday, live on DAZN pay-per-view.
It's the first-ever mixed martial arts fight on a Misfits card, and Danis, who crossed over from MMA to make his professional boxing debut against Logan Paul at X Series 10 in 2023, will return to his primary discipline against Spencer, who crosses over in the opposite direction after a pair of boxing exhibitions last year under the Misfits banner and a first-round victory over Muganzi Hakim in April.
It's that lack of experience in MMA that Danis believes will put Spencer in harm's way, and the former Bellator fighter did not shy away from making a brutal prediction for the bout.
"I feel bad for the kid, he's going to be in the hospital, he's not going to be able to walk for about two or three years," Danis said at Thursday's press conference. "His knees are going to end up f—ing ripped apart.
"I just feel bad for him, to be honest. I hope he pulls out because he's going to be changed for the rest of his life and I don't think he knows what he signed up for."
While Danis is anticipating a rough night for Spencer, he also gave plaudits to his opponent for taking on an MMA fight against a more seasoned combatant. Danis called out several other former MMA fighters on the Ring of Thrones card who he says avoided the opportunity to face him, sparing headliner Darren Till from his ire.
"There's a lot of guys up here that said they can fight MMA but when the contract came around, they all ran," Danis said. "Darren's boxing now, so I respect him, but [Luke] Rockhold turned it down, Tony [Ferguson] turned it down, everybody else turned it down, so no one wanted to fight me.
"So fair play to Spencer, but he's a dead man walking."
