'One of the greatest fighters!' - Eddie Hearn hails star amid all-time legends after latest triumph

Eddie Hearn has hailed Katie Taylor as "one of the greatest fighters" after the star completed her clean sweep against Amanda Serrano in their trilogy bout on Friday.

The Irish boxer took a third and decisive victory against her rival at Madison Square Garden, to effectively confirm her status as a modern legend of the sport.

Taylor toplined an all-female fight card in New York alongside her foe, making history as she scored a majority decision to retain her undisputed light-welterweight crown.

Promoter Hearn was ringside for the action, and speaking next to his star afterwards at a press conference, the Matchroom supremo was effusive in his assessment.

"It was a performance where you think someone is coming to the end of their career, and they just roll back the years with a performance of skill, speed and boxing IQ," he said 

"We're so proud of her. It was a huge opportunity and an amazing show. I've always said Katie Taylor is not just one of the greatest female fighters but one of the greatest fighters.

"That was the barrier that she broke, that we don't compare. It is just boxing. They gave so many opportunities to so many female fighters tonight. It's down to her.

"There's been many before her, but she's the one that has commercially broken down barriers to give others those opportunities. It's boxing, and [she's] one of the greatest."
