Sunny Edwards and Galal Yafai’s eagerly anticipated clash could be announced later this month.
That’s from the mouth of Eddie Hearn who’s eager to stage the domestic grudge match that will see Yafai take a huge step up as he goes in with the former flyweight world champion.
Since winning Olympic gold at the 2020 games, Yafai has been fast-tracked to world level, and Edwards will be his biggest test.
Victory for either man should open the door for a potential world title bout in 2025, and Hearn has provided a big update with November 30 the likely date.
“Very close, I’ve been trying to make this fight for a while,” said Hearn when speaking on The Stomping Ground.
“This is a brilliant domestic, world level fight. They don’t like each other. It’s going to be a big fight. We’re looking to stage it at the end of November, and hopefully we can announce it next week.”
