Eddie Hearn's upcoming Lonsdale title challenger says he is the best prospect in British boxing
Eddie Hearn is currently guiding several young fighters who are all in the early stages of their careers.
In recent years, Hearn has placed a lot of emphasis on youth recruitment as he looks to fill the void that will soon be left by veteran names in his stable such as Anthony Joshua and Katie Taylor who have long been established world level fighters.
This year has seen the professional debuts of both Leo Atang and Tiah Mai Ayton, both still teenagers, and the pair have received plenty of high-profile praise as they build their records looking to one day become world champions.
One youngster in the Matchroom stable who believes is the best of them all is George Liddard. The confident 23-year-old has been flawless in his short time in the sport so far and he faces his biggest test this Friday night when he tackles Kieron Conway for the British title.
Liddard enters the contest with only 12 fights on his ledger, and he is facing a man who has plenty of big-league experience after fighting on Canelo Alvarez undercards in Texas and Las Vegas.
Despite the gulf in experience, Liddard is prepared for battle and as well as feeling confident for his next showdown, Liddard also thinks that no other emerging young talent is better than what he is.
“I genuinely believe that I am the I am the best prospect coming through,” said a beaming Liddard when speaking exclusively to DAZN News just days before his fight with Conway
“It's not just about talent. I believe I'm very talented, but it's the heart, the grit that I put in week in, week out. You know, I’m always striving for more. I don't strive for perfection, but I strive to be better day in, day out.
“I just believe in my hand speed. I'm exciting. I love a fight as much as I can box. I love a fight at times too, so you know, there's going to be some very exciting nights ahead. I just think with all my talent and hard work, that's what will separate me.”
