A relatively tame press conference ended in an intense face-off between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, who will step into the ring together on Saturday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
The fighters have ramped up their bitter rivalry as the bout draws nearer, but there was little in the way of fireworks — or eggs — when they shared the stage on Thursday.
Instead, the men lobbed some verbal jabs at one another before engaging in the staredown, which lasted approximately three minutes. While it wasn't anywhere near the 12-minute face-off that Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury were locked into ahead of their rematch late last year, Eubank and Benn matched the intensity of the heavyweights as they did not take their eyes off one another.
Security eventually stepped in before any physical confrontation could unfold, but the rivals still managed to exchange words before being separated.
"This is what I do. I love this game. This is what I live for," Benn said moments before he faced off with his rival. "This is every fighter's dream when they turn professional - to live this life.
"There's no more pressure than a 19-year-old kid with no amateur experience walking out to a packed O2 Arena. That's pressure. I've been doing this for ten years and I'm more than prepared and more than ready. I wish it was Saturday night tonight."
Next up for Eubank and Benn are Friday's weigh-ins, followed by one of the most highly anticipated boxing matches in British history on Saturday.
