Chris Eubank Jr’s epic 12-round win over Conor Benn was not just an iconic fight moment for British fight fans. The result also had a significant impact across the pond in America.
After a lengthy build-up filled with hatred and tension, the two fighters delivered a brutal contest that will long live in the memory of all who had the pleasure to witness it go down.
The Brighton man pulled away in the closing stages, including a hellacious final session, to win 116-112 on all three scorecards.
Benn had promised to give Eubank Jr all the pressure he could handle, and he was true to his word as he looked to set a fast pace.
Eubank Jr was able to match that output, and with him providing the most accurate work, it always felt like the bigger man was able to stay ahead even though plenty was coming back his way.
At the end of the bout, all three judges scored 116-112 in favour of Eubank Jr as the fans inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium applauded the efforts of both combatants.
Ryan Garcia, who faces Rolly Romero next weekend live on DAZN, took to social media to congratulate the fighters on their achievements.
“Man, that was a sight to see, man!!!! Fire fight!!!” wrote the former world title challenger on X.
“Loved every minute of it. Shoutout to both of them. That was great from both.”
His promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, was equally as complimentary.
“Beautiful fight! Both winners!!!” he said on the same platform.
The fighters will now enjoy a much-deserved rest before plotting their next move, with a rematch between them possible for later in the year.
