Former world title challenger Mariusz Wach was involved in a bizarre 3 vs 1 MMA fight over the weekend in his homeland of Poland.

Wach, 45, faced heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko for his unified titles in 2012, losing a lopsided points decision.

He also took on Moses Itauma last year when he was stopped inside two rounds by the rising star.

Wach had his first MMA exhibition bout in February as he fought to a draw with Salim Touahri, with neither man able to force a finish.

On Saturday night, he took things to the next level by fighting three opponents at once.

The contest saw Wach square off against MMA fighters Mariusz Sobczak and Tomasz Olejnik, as well as Polish influencer Dawid Baran.

Sobszak has a win and a loss on his two-fight record at heavyweight, while Olejnik has just one victory to his name in five MMA welterweight bouts. Baran had never competed inside the Octagon before.

But Wach still had his work cut out as the three men went straight for him from the opening bell.

Wach was outnumbered and had punches and kicks flying at him from all angles, but he used his size to hold off his opponents.

He also connected with his own punches, with his boxing pedigree coming to the fore.

Sobczak and Olejnik both hit the canvas on multiple occasions during the opening three-minute round before quitting the bout.

Baran bravely emerged for the start of the second round, but he quickly pulled out after being dropped by a one-two combination to hand victory to Wach.

Exactly what the future holds for Wach remains unclear after his latest unusual combat sports contest.

He has boxed twice this year, indicating his 20-year career inside the squared circle may not be over yet.

His 51-fight record stands at 39 wins and 12 defeats, but 10 of those losses have come in his last 16 fights.

Wach could instead focus on continuing his MMA career after getting the better of three men at the same time on Saturday night.
