Fabio Wardley says he would love a fight with Tyson Fury this year.
Following his stunning victory over Joseph Parker in October, Wardley was upgraded to WBO heavyweight champion when Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt instead of facing the Ipswich man.
While Wardley admits a fight with Usyk is top of his shopping list, he knows that is unlikely right now and a bout with Fury would be next best for him.
When asked by Sky Sports if he would welcome a fight against Fury, Wardley was quick to reply: “Yeah, more than welcome it. More than welcome it.
“It would be a fight that I am hugely up for. Myself, I like to target some of the big names in the division, the big boys, the top players, and, look, he’s one of those guys.
“Look, give me a call any time.”
Wardley also acknowledged that he had been in early talks for a possible fight with Derek Chisora and that is also a contest he would be up for making next.
The champion added: “Yeah, Del Boy himself. I know he’s on the hunt.
“He wants a big finish to his career. He’s on 49 fights at the minute, he wants to finish on that big 50 and a world title shot is probably the best way to do that.
“We’re having some broad conversations, some broad chats, and I know people would like that matchup.”
January starts with a heavyweight bang as Agit Kabayel takes the next steps towards a world title shot as he face Damian Knyba this Saturday, January 10, exclusively on DAZN Watch with a subscription, monthly and annual options available.
