Dalton Smith's stoppage win over WBC super lightweight champion Subriel Matias on Saturday saw him write himself into British boxing's history books.
Not only is he the country's latest world champion, but he also produced one of the great performances by a British fighter in the States.
This is a sentiment echoed by his promoter Eddie Hearn who called the win "the greatest away win I’ve ever witnessed".
Whenever a British boxer wins in the US, it is a moment to savour and the performance is often one to remember, and here DAZN News' Matt Astbury picks out five of the best wins in America by Britain's pugilists.
Two years after their first encounter, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury clashed in Las Vegas, and for Fury it was a glorified beatdown.
Throughout the build-up, Fury was adamant that he was going to let his hands go against one of boxing's hardest punchers, and while many doubted him, 'The Gypsy King' lived up to his word.
Knockdowns in rounds three and five were rewards for Fury's decision to be on the front foot and bullying the bully.
Wilder was then put out of his misery in the seventh with a Fury stoppage and Fury being crowned the WBC champion was the final major boxing moment before the world shut down due to COVID-19.
In what was his first world title fight, Darren Barker made a bright start in the early rounds. His right hand was landing frequently which left the defending champion stunned by what was coming his way.
However, Daniel Geale drew Barker into trading in the centre of the ring and floored him with a body shot in the sixth.
Barker managed to meet the referee's account and delivered a gutsy performance in a bout where momentum continued to swing.
In the end, it would be Barker who would emerge victorious with a split decision and after being crowned a world champion, he dedicated the performance to his late brother Gary.
Moving up from super middleweight, Joe Calzaghe travelled to Las Vegas to challenge Bernard Hopkins for The Ring light heavyweight title.
After producing countless nights to remember in the UK and Europe, this bout was Calzaghe's US debut and at first, it could not have gone any worse.
A knockdown in the opening round could have seen Calzaghe lose his head against one of the greats, but instead he spurred on and managed to beat Hopkins by split decision.
For Calzaghe, this was one of his most impressive wins with Hopkins going on to dominate the light heavyweight division.
After drawing their first fight, Lennox Lewis returned to America and faced Evander Holyfield for the undisputed heavyweight title in Las Vegas.
The result of the initial contest is subject to controversy with many believing that Lewis was a clear winner.
In the rematch, Lewis made sure he would be the victor in the eyes of the ringside judges, and dominated the rematch.
This was reflected on the scorecards with all three officials giving the win to Lewis and crowning him the undisputed heavyweight champion.
Naseem Hamed's American debut is one where the Sheffield man announced himself to boxing's most lucrative market.
Defending his WBO title, Hamed took on Kevin Kelley at New York's Madison Square Garden and it was an action packed affair.
Knockdowns were plenty as both men traded numerous blows, but it would be Hamed who survived a brutal war with a left hook in the fourth proving too much for Kelley who struggled to recover.
For Hamed, this fight made him a must-see attraction for American fight fans and he would go on to make numerous appearances Stateside before retirement.
