Paul vs Chavez Jr - Saturday on DAZN PPV - Buy now

Tony Bellew caused quite a stir the last time Jake Paul fought, as he gatecrashed his press conference with Mike Tyson to mock the popular YouTuber

Bellew and Paul have not held back in the past when discussing each other, but the Liverpool man raised the ante at the backend of last year when he turned up in Texas with an elderly gentleman who he claimed would be Paul’s next opponent in a publicity stunt arranged by Paddy Power.

This weekend, Paul returns to action in California, live on DAZN , when he faces former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

Paul begins the contest as a huge favourite, and although Chavez Jr has seen better days, Paul is using the bout to elevate himself into contention for a future world title shot.

Discussions for a big opportunity against Badou Jack and Zurdo Ramirez have taken place for Paul, but his immediate focus is getting past Chavez Jr., the son of the legendary Mexican icon who shares the same name.

Although Bellew would not give Paul much chance against the current cruiserweight world champions, he does think he will have enough to get past Chavez Jr.

“Once again, this has come down to perfect timing from Jake Paul as he’s getting a fighter who’s well past his prime,” said Bellew when speaking exclusively to DAZN News

“Chavez Jr is a former world champion, but that was long before I retired, and I’ve had my gloves hung up for nearly seven years.

“That tells you how far past his prime he is, but he still should know enough to make it interesting, and I’m curious to see how motivated he is.

“Chavez Jr lost to Anderson Silva a few years ago, and that’s the performance that I keep going back to when making my prediction. Paul is just fresher and younger, and that should be enough.”

Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will be streamed exclusively on DAZN PPV, this Saturday, June 28.  Buy the PPV now here
