Eubank Jr. vs Benn 2 - only on DAZN PPV - Saturday

One of American boxing's most exciting prospects, Joshua Edwards, added a fifth win to his unbeaten record on Saturday night.

Featuring on the undercard of Vergil Ortiz Jr.'s demolition of Erickson Lubin, Edwards' clash with Zeno Vooris was stopped in the third round after a cut opened on the latter's left eye which prompted his corner to stop the bout.

With former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder fading, someone needs to step up and be the face of heavyweight boxing in America.

According to his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya , Edwards is the man to fill the void and bring a world heavyweight title belt back to the United States.

As the boxing world awaits news of 'The Rocket's' next fight, DAZN News takes a look at the promising 25-year-old prospect.

I believe Joshua Edwards is the guy to bring back the heavyweight title to the US - Oscar De La Hoya

In a recent interview with talkSPORT , De La Hoya's praise for Edwards was endless.

With the US not having a heavyweight champion since Wilder's title reign came to an end in his rematch with Tyson Fury in 2020, Europe is dominating the division.

This was a feeling echoed by De La Hoya, but he is expecting Edwards to change all that and set up some huge world title bouts against Europe's best.

"I strongly feel the international heavyweight division, besides the US is thriving," De La Hoya said.

"I believe I have the golden nugget here in the US in Joshua Edwards who could make some noise and create some big heavyweight fights here in the US against the great fighters in Europe.

"I think it’s exciting times for the heavyweight division, but I do think it’s time for the US to step up, and challenge the UK and European heavyweights, and bring at least one title back.

"I believe Joshua Edwards is the guy to bring back the heavyweight title to the US."

Edwards' next fight is yet to be confirmed after beating Vooris, but after fighting five times in 2025, expect the 25-year-old to be very active in 2026 as he continues to gain experience and rise through the heavyweight ranks.
