I was beaten by Klitschko. Stopped twice by Bellew. But nobody hit me harder than veteran American

David Haye shared the ring with many big punchers during an illustrious career that saw him reign as world champion at both cruiserweight and heavyweight. 

The London fighter was one of Britain’s most popular boxers during his run in both weight classes and he shared the ring with several high-profile fighters.

After dominating at cruiserweight and becoming unified ruler, Haye made the jump to heavyweight where he would eventually become world champion in 2009 when outpointing the giant Nikolai Valuev in Germany. 

Haye would go on to fight Wladimir Klitschko two years later, once again in Germany, but he was unable to make any impact against the brilliant Ukrainian, and he was well-beaten on the scorecards.  

Later in his career, Haye became involved in a vicious and personal rivalry with Tony Bellew that saw him lose twice to the Liverpool man in what would be the final fights of his career. 

Despite sharing the ring with Klitschko and Bellew, Haye insists that Monte Barrett was the hardest puncher he ever faced after defeating the American in 2008.  

Haye was successful in five rounds, but the small effect that Barrett did have on him is enough for Haye to credit the experienced American.

"I remember him hitting me and being shocked at the difference in punch power between him and the cruiserweights," said Haye when reflecting on his fight with Barrett with The Ring. 

"He was a very heavy-handed guy."
