Dalton Smith will be an interested spectator when Teofimo Lopez defends his world title against Shakur Stevenson on January 31, live on DAZN.
The fight will see two of boxing’s best fighters collide in what is set to be one of the year’s biggest battles with 140lbs supremacy up for grabs between two pound-for-pound superstars.
Stevenson enters the bout a small favourite despite being the challenger, but he is facing an elite operator who has reigned as the number one boxer in two weight classes with dominant victories over the likes of Vasiliy Lomachenko and Josh Taylor.
Earlier this month, Smith made himself a serious player in the division when he travelled to New York City, the location of Lopez vs Stevenson, to defeat Subriel Matias.
Smith was a huge underdog going into the contest, but he made a mockery of the pre-fight odds as he overcame a tough start to stop Matias in the fifth round.
Now a world champion, Smith is keen on unification bouts and that includes a potential showdown with the winner of Lopez vs Stevenson.
Smith has revealed whether he will be in attendance for the fight and he has also given his prediction on who will come out on top.
"I will probably be over there watching it,” said Smith when speaking to Sky Sports.
“It is a great fight and obviously I have my eyes on that as a potential opponent for those guys next. It is going to be good, and it is going to be a great fight. I am favouring Shakur on points."
