It may not be undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk next, but Joseph Parker will fight for a second time in 2025.
Taking place Saturday, exclusively live on DAZN PPV, Parker will take on the undefeated Fabio Wardley, a man who has made a reputation for pulling off thumping knockouts. His latest against Justis Huni in June is a fine example.
For Parker, British opponents have become a common test and he will be hoping to add another to the win column on his professional record.
Ahead of the opening bell in London, DAZN News takes a look at Parker's record against opponents from the British Isles.
During his 39-fight career as a professional, Parker has faced six British opponents, and one of those he has faced on two occasions.
Parker's record against foes from the British Isles stands at four wins and three losses, with some notable names featured on the resume.
His first fight against a British rival came in September 2017 when he defended his WBO heavyweight title against Hughie Fury in a rather forgettable majority decision win at the Manchester Arena.
Parker was then given the chance to unify six months later when he faced IBF and WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, but he came up short with AJ winning by unanimous decision.
The following July, another notable British heavyweight, this time Dillian Whyte, took on Parker in a thrilling heavyweight clash at the O2 Arena in London. Down in rounds two and nine, Parker scored a knockdown of his own in the twelfth and final session, but this was not enough with all three ringside judges declaring Whyte the winner on the scorecards.
Parker would have to wait three years before he faced a British opponent and once again, it was a recognisable name.
After giving a good account of himself in a loss to Oleksandr Usyk, Derek Chisora was tasked with going head-to-head with the former world champion.
The first encounter took place in May 2021, and despite an early setback with Chisora knocking down Parker in the first round, the New Zealander would get past 'Del Boy' on a split decision, with this particular outcome warranting a rematch seven months later.
With knockdowns in rounds four, seven and eight, Parker made sure he would be the one getting the win this time around with all three judges scoring the fight in his favour.
The British opponents did not stop with Joe Joyce the next man to face Parker in September 2022.
'The Juggernaut' took his chance against the former champion, landing a left hook in the eleventh which resulted in Parker being counted out. In the aftermath there were doubts as to whether Parker could compete at the top level again, but he bounced back from this loss with a unanimous decision win over Jack Massey four months later.
Parker has since built on this particular win, and following success against high profile names such as Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang, he will take on WBA interim champion Fabio Wardley in a crossroads fight where a world title opportunity awaits the winner.
Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley fight on Saturday, October 25, to become the WBO mandatory challenger to Oleksandr Usyk. Watch the fight and undercard live and exclusive on DAZN PPV.
