Ryan Garcia has said that he is open to a fight with WBO super lightweight champion, Teofimo Lopez, and believes he is 'his kryptonite'.

The future is uncertain for both men, who are looking for their next opponents, and Ryan Garcia told The Ring that his style is a perfect match for Lopez and that he would knock him out.

Garcia said: “I don’t know what’s going on with Teofimo Lopez. He’s been quiet. If he wants to run it, he can get it. I’ve always liked that fight for myself. Our styles go well together."

He added: “I seriously believe I would knock him out with my punch selection and output. With the way I throw punches, I would crack him. I’m definitely his kryptonite. I’ve been wanting the fight for a long time. I’m open to any challenge.”

This comes amid an ongoing dispute between Garcia and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya. The Hall-of-Fame-fighter-turned promoter does not want to see his fighter take a rematch with Romero, who beat Garcia in one of this year’s biggest upsets, and instead chase bigger fights with the likes of Lopez.

De La Hoya said on the rematch: “No, I actually don’t [want to see it] because the first fight was a dull fight.

He added: “I believe there’s other big fights we can make with the likes of Teofimo [Lopez] and other fighters.”

Lopez is on the hunt for his next opportunity after comfortably defending his WBO 140lbs strap against Arnold Barboza Jr.  He has been linked to fights with Garcia, Jaron Ennis, Shakur Stevenson and Richardson Hitchins.

It does not look as though Garcia is on the WBO champion’s radar at the moment after he posted pictures of himself with Richardson Hitchins and Shakur Stevenson, captioned “Which one?”

If Lopez is not available, Garcia has been equally as vocal about his intentions to get a rematch with Romero, despite his promoter’s reservations.

Garcia said on social media: “I want to get that back. He has a title. He got elevated. Why not? Go for a world championship and get my lick back.”
