Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk could be interested in facing Jake Paul in an MMA fight if his manager Sergey Lapin is to be believed.
Usyk, one of boxing's biggest stars, will bid to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion on July 19 when he meets IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois for a second time live on DAZN.
With wins over Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Dubois, there are little world title contenders left to challenge the pound-for-pound great.
Paul maybe just the man to face Usyk next if he manages to beat Dubois, and with the Ukrainian having an interest in MMA, an Usyk-Paul fight inside the cage could be feasible says Lapin.
"The Jake Paul fight is a great show," Lapin told Norske Bettingsider.
"Imagine the announcement - an undisputed boxing champion stepping into the cage to fight under MMA rules against a guy who’s beaten several MMA fighters in the boxing ring. That would be something fans would love to see.
"We would need to completely restructure our training camp - bring in wrestling and kickboxing experts to master the techniques needed for the cage. But we saw the reaction from Jake Paul’s team - they’re into the idea.
"Usyk said, “Why not? It’s cool - I love challenges.” He even mentioned he used to wrestle and take part in hand-to-hand combat as a kid. It would be a great fight in the cage.
"But right now, our main focus is the undisputed fight on July 19 in London. After that, we’ll revisit discussions with Jake Paul’s team."
Paul also has a fight of his own to win if he wants to face Usyk when he takes on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on June 28.
While Usyk's interest in MMA may come as a shock to some fight fans, the Ukrainian has previously teased a showdown with former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will be streamed exclusively on DAZN PPV, Saturday, June 28.
