Friday night was one full of boxing action with two world title fights taking place.
In Mexico, Sivenathi Nontshingha was out for revenge after losing his IBF light flyweight title to Adrian Curiel three months ago.
At first, it looked like Curiel would be retaining his world title belt with the Mexican dominating the first nine rounds of the contest.
However, in the 10th round, an unsteady Curiel was pounced on by Nontshingha who unleashed numerous assaults and with the defending champion not able to respond to these attacks in the closing stages of the round, the referee stopped the fight and Nontshingha became a world champion once more.
Meanwhile in New York, O'Shaquie Foster made a successful defence of his WBC super featherweight title with a split decision win over Abraham Nova.
It was a close contest at The Theater at Madison Square Garden with both fighters probing each other in the early stages, Foster then gained control from round six and knocked down Nova with a left hook in the final round.
While one judge in New York scored the fight 113-114 Nova, the other two judges scored the contest 115-112 and 116-111 in favour of Foster.
