Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal in their opening game of this year's Club World Cup.

Madrid were considered huge favourites to dominate Group H, and it looked like they would when Gonzalo Garcia Torres opened the scoring for Los Blancos in 34th minute.

This did not deter Al-Hilal from chasing the equaliser and they were awarded a penalty after Marcos Leonardo had his shirt pulled by Madrid's Asencio.

Up stepped Ruben Neves, who calmly put away the pentalty before halftime.

The second half was goalless, but there was chaos in added time when Madrid were awarded a penalty of their own.

Star midfielder Federico Valverde placed the ball on the spot, but his effort was saved by Al-Hilal goalkeeper Bono who helped secure a point in the group standings.
