England open their 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup with a match against Haiti, who are making their debut in a major world tournament.
The Lionesses are one of the favourites to win the entire thing, with some bookmakers giving them the third-best odds to capture the trophy (behind the USA and Spain). Such expectations are lofty for a team that has never previously won the World Cup, but England's perfect run through the 2022 Women's Euro showed that they may be able to truly challenge the world's elite.
First they must face Haiti, the debutante nation from Concacaf with little experience at this level. The Haitians qualified for the WWC through the inter-continental play-offs, defeating Senegal and Chile for the right to compete in this tournament. Their results since qualification have been mixed, with two wins and two losses against mid-level opposition in the run-up to this match.
Here's how you can watch.
The match will take place at Lang Park in Brisbane.
