Jordan Henderson scored on Sunday for Brentford and paid tribute to Diogo Jota with his goal celebration.
Henderson scored in the 70th minute in Brentford's 1-1 draw with visiting Leeds United and proceeded to sit down cross-legged and pantomime as if he was playing video games, a familiar celebration that Jota made famous while playing for Liverpool.
Jota and his brother Andre Silva were killed in a single-car collision in July 2025.
"Yes, it was his birthday recently," Henderson told Sky Sports. " We will never forget him. We always remember him forever.
"I can only imagine what the lads at Liverpool are going through. He was a good friend, and I like I said, I don't score many goals - I thought I would dedicate it to him."
Henderson and Jota were teammates at Liverpool from 2020 until 2023, when the former joined Al-Ettifaq of the Saudi Pro League. At the time of his death, Jota was preparing to play in his sixth season for the Reds.
