Morgan Rogers opened his England account on Thursday, scoring his first goal for his country during the Three Lions' 3-0 friendly victory over Wales at Wembley Stadium.

Rogers earned the start in a partially rotated lineup under Thomas Tuchel, and the 23-year-old paid back his manager's faith in quick order with a goal in the third minute.

For the Aston Villa man, it was one of the best moments of his rising career.

"Right at the top," Rogers told ITV when asked to rank the goal among his footballing highlights. "It's a proud moment to do it at home too in a home nation derby. A dream come true."

Playing in his ninth match as an England international, Rogers acknowledged that he'll have to keep producing if he is to maintain his place in the squad, with the Three Lions boasting enviable depth in his position.

"The quality of players we have with people here and not here, you can never be too comfortable, or else people will take your role," he said.

To that end, Tuchel gave Rogers a vote of confidence for his performance.

"He is what he is," Tuchel said of Rogers. "He is a number 10 and he is competing for his place. He is in a good way."
