The transfer window has now slammed shut in England and a number of clubs have been busy.
One of those is Manchester United who brought five new players to Old Trafford, which includes Dutch defender Mathijs de Ligt.
De Ligt joined United on a five-year contract for approximately £42m from Bayern Munich with manager Erik ten Hag looking to fix a defence which has struggled to keep clean sheets.
Former United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen is excited by the arrival of De Ligt and believes that the Premier League is the perfect place for the 25-year-old to fulfil his potential.
“Matthijs de Ligt can reach his potential in the Premier League, he is a player who suits the division. He is strong, powerful and it helps that Erik ten Hag knows him," Meulensteen said when speaking to Boyle Sports, who offer the latest Man Utd v Liverpool betting odds.
“De Ligt was flying at Ajax when Ten Hag was there and he was one of the best players in Holland.
"I think the move to Juventus didn’t quite work and his career stalled at Bayern Munich because they might not think he is good enough on the ball.”
United's next game in the Premier League is one of the marquee clashes when they welcome rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
