Palmeiras stormed back in a 2-2 draw against Inter Miami CF to finish on top of Group A, while Botafogo advanced as Group B runners-up by edging Atlético de Madrid on goal difference after a 1-0 loss to the Spanish side.

It sets up for a Club World Cup classico between the Brazilian sides in the Round of 16. All four clubs from Brazil, including CR Flamengo and Fluminense FC, advanced to the knockout round.

Botafogo will be without Gregore due to suspension after the midfielder received his second yellow card of the tournament against Atlético.

What they said...

"It’s great that Brazilian clubs reached the playoffs, though everyone understands that a match between two South American teams will be as tense as a Formula 1 race under the rain – it will be a fierce battle between two rivals fighting for the same goals."
Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras head coach

"Some don't know Brazilian football well, and others don't know this team. It was up to us to do the opposite of the predictions, and that’s exactly what we have done."
Renato Paiva, Botafogo head coach

It is perhaps fitting that the first ticketed event at Lincoln Financial Field was the eye-catching friendly between European rivals Barcelona and Manchester United in August 2003, with Patrick Kluivert having the honour of scoring the venue’s first goal. Now home to NFL side Philadelphia Eagles, the impressive arena has also been selected to host five group-stage matches and a Round of 16 tie during the eagerly anticipated 48-team FIFA World Cup 26™.
