Manchester United claimed a famous 2-1 victory at bitter rivals Liverpool last weekend to record back-to-back wins for the first time under Ruben Amorim.

With Brighton & Hove Albion next up for United at Old Trafford tomorrow, Amorim has a chance to make it a hat-trick of Premier League victories.

Here, DAZN News   assesses they key figures behind the Reds’ recent resurgence as they prepare to face the Seagulls.

Senne Lammens

The 23-year-old goalkeeper was signed from Royal Antwerp at the end of the summer transfer window for £18million and has cut a quietly assured figure in his first two appearances.

The Belgian was brought to Old Trafford as a replacement for the much-criticised and recently-departed Andre Onana.

Lammens made his bow in the recent 2-0 home win over Sunderland but going to Anfield must have felt like entering a lion's den.

Nevertheless, he coped admirably with the pressure-cooker environment and helped United to their first win there since January 2016.

Anfield matchwinner Harry Maguire said: “I must say I am heavily impressed by Senne Lammens.

“I don't want to get carried away because he is playing in the position with the most pressure, it's the most difficult position at Manchester United. But he's got everything. Great personality.”

Maguire leading by example

Say what you like about the England defender, and many have throughout his Old Trafford career, but you cannot question his commitment to the United cause.

Last Sunday, Maguire's 84th-minute header against reigning champions Liverpool earned a memorable victory which suggested Amorim's team are finally on the right track.

The centre-back was equally as impressive at the other end, nullifying the threat of Liverpool's superstar attack which featured Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak.

As Maguire took the acclaim of the United fans during the post-match celebrations, he appeared to be fighting back tears.

Proof, once again, of how much representing the club means to him and another reminder that you write off Maguire at your peril.

Matheus Cunha seized centre stage in Liverpool win

It has taken time, but the Brazil forward is starting to make himself at home in a Manchester United jersey and even earn lavish comparisons with Old Trafford great Eric Cantona.

Cunha arrived from Wolves this summer in the £62.5million transfer and called the move to Old Trafford a "dream".

He signed a five-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, and enjoyed a fine game in last weekend's victory at Liverpool.

It was his best performance yet since joining United and saw him earn plenty of plaudits after replacing Benjamin Sesko in the starting line-up.

Ruben Amorim said post-match: “Especially in the bad moments, you have to go with your gut. And I always go by that, no matter what.

“Sometimes you have a player in a good moment but the characteristic of the game is not for him. So it’s better to go with a player and understand it is not for him.

“Sometimes the characteristics of the game change the way you are going to approach the game, so I think, for example, Cunha in the middle.

“If we put Ben, I think it’s easier for these centre-backs to control our striker.”

Bryan Mbeumo

The summer signing from Brentford showed all his class last weekend with a superb finish to put United ahead against Liverpool at the Kop end inside two minutes.

He was a constant menace down the right flank and cleverly utilised the space to create danger for the visitors.

The 26-year-old's performance showed that he can be the fulcrum for the new chapter being patiently at Old Trafford by Amorim.

Whatever United go on to achieve this season, Mbeumo's influence is likely to be crucial.
