How does LIV Golf work?

Between February and August 2025 14 events are played in the LIV Golf League.

54 players and 13 teams compete for the Individual Championship and Team Championship.

Each event is played over three rounds across the Friday to Sunday of the tournament week, with no cuts, meaning all players play all three rounds.

Also unique to LIV Golf, each round is a shotgun start – meaning there will be 18 groups of players spread around the course at each hole, all teeing off at the same time.

In terms of scoring and winning a tournament, like any golf competition, the player with the lowest score after 54 holes wins.

However every player still has something to play for as their individual performance contributes to their team’s success.

Each team has four players and all four scores count in each round for every team. The team with the lowest total score wins the event's team title.

As well as winning each individual competition, scores are added to individual and team league tables, to crown season winners at the end of the 13th tournament, ahead of the end of season Team Championship.
