Just five days on from an enthralling three-day event in Chicag o, this week (August 15-17) sees the 2025 LIV Golf season head to Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana in the USA.

LIV Golf’s 2025 regular season wraps up with its  first visit to Indianapolis , the 13th tournament of the 14-event season, with next week’s Team Championship set for Michigan.

The LIV Golf Indianapolis field is headlined by the likes of Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, Tyrrell Hatton, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Anthony Kim and more.

This is set to be a 54-player field, with the event marking the 13th tournament of the 2025 LIV Golf League schedule.

As ever there are plenty of intriguing sub-plots, but the headline is the same as this time last year: Joaquin Niemann vs. Rahm for the Individual Championship.

Most of the attention will be focused on Rahm and Niemann, but whoever finishes third in the individual standings collects a $4 million bonus, and that spot is comfortably occupied by Crushers GC captain DeChambeau with 140.74 points.

Joaquin Niemann vs. Jon Rahm for the Individual Championship

Just like in last year’s regular-season finale in Chicago, the Individual Championship and the $18 million bonus is a two-horse race between Niemann and Rahm.

How they got there couldn’t be any different; Niemann’s five LIV Golf victories (most recently in Virginia) earned him 200 of his 208.43 points.

In contrast, Rahm has finished T11 or better in each LIV Golf tournament this season (including three second-place finishes), but he has yet to win individually this season, alhough his Legion XIII squad is locked as the top seed in the team standings thanks to four wins.

Rahm came agonizingly close to supplanting Niemann at the top of the individual standings in Chicago, but the Legion XIII captain settled for a share of second with Josele Ballester after losing to Dean Burmester on the first playoff hole.

That leaves the magic number at 12.27; that’s how many points separate Niemann and Rahm heading into Indianapolis.

The battle for third

Whoever finishes third in the individual standings collects a $4 million bonus, and that spot is comfortably occupied by Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau with 140.74 points.

There are three other players who can mathematically finish third in the standings, each of whom have won a tournament this season; Burmester (117.25 points - Chicago), Talor Gooch (112.70 points - Andalucia) and Patrick Reed (101.90 points - Dallas).

Those who finish in the Lock Zone (top-24 of the individual standings) are guaranteed their spot in the LIV Golf league in 2026.

Charles Howell III (54.03 points) currently occupies 24th, but there are several notable players that are well within striking distance, including Tyrrell Hatton (52.15 points), Richard Bland (51.03 points) and captains Dustin Johnson (48.90 points), Louis Oosthuizen (45.13 points) and Brooks Koepka (45.13 points).

The Club at Chatham Hills

Designed and built by renowned architect, Pete Dye - who lived close by - The Club at Chatham Hills was only opened in 2014. The private club has since seen new tees built on seven different holes, including 16, 17 and 18.

It features plenty of water, wooded areas and rolling topography and has been named as one of the best courses in the state over the past few years.

The signature hole is the 448-yard 18th which slowly rises and bends its way around to the green. Another notable hole is the par-3 third which often leads to over-par scores throughout the week.

The course itself will play as a par-71 for LIV Golf Indianapolis, but it will only measure at just over 7,100 yards.

So, power will not necessarily be all that helpful and those who excel in terms of distance control should come to the fore.

The Postman under pressure to deliver

Ahead of LIV Golf Indianapolis, Englishman Ian Poulter is currently in the drop zone with just 4.5 points. He knows he requires a top-20 finish as a minimum if he is not to be relegated.

While Poulter is one of several big names in danger of relegation from LIV Golf, he is arguably the brightest star of them all and needs one of his best results this year if he is to play another season in the 54-hole competition.

Players from 49th downwards, however, will be relegated from the LIV Golf League and only have a couple of tough routes back for the following year.

Per the LIV website: "Players finishing 49th or lower in the points standings after LIV Golf Indianapolis will be relegated from the league and could return only by playing their way back into the league via winning The International Series crown (Asian Tour) or through LIV Golf Promotions."
