LIV Golf UK by JCB produced plenty of drama and twists and turns at the JCB Golf and Country Club, especially on an action packed Sunday.
However, in the end it was a familiar finish as Joaquin Niemann and Legion XIII ran out winners to strengthen their grip on the individual and team standings respectively.
Torque GC's Joaquin Niemann made history in Staffordshire as he recorded his fifth victory of the season.
In so doing so he became the first player to win five events in one season, making it seven in total for his LIV Golf career.
The confidence the Chilian has taken from his previous four victories was evident to see in Sunday's final round.
With the experienced Budda Watson charging up the field with a stunning back nine to reduce Niemann's lead from 10 to two shots many would have crumbled under the pressure of seeing Watson in their rearview mirror storming up in a JCB.
However, Niemann responded as champions do, holing a 5-foot putt on the 15th for birdie that stemmed the tide and saw the 26-year-old card a final round 3-under 68 to eventually seal a two-shot victory.
“If I play my best game, I know I can win,” said Niemann. “I think that's the only thing that kind of matters for me, is to find that A-game more often.”
Maybe inspired by his cameo role in Happy Gilmore 2, which was released on Netflix on Friday - worth a watch by the way - Budda Watson wowed the crowds on Sunday with a record breaking effort.
A birdie at the par-3 ninth, an eagle at the par-5 10th, birdies at the 11th and 12th, another eagle at the par-5 13th with a 21 foot putt, before finishing the stunning run with a birdie at the par-3 14th.
The 8-under run was the best six-hole stretch in LIV Golf history, giving the 46-year-old a 65 final round to finish solo second at 14 under.
Niemann's latest success moves him to 206.80 points in the individual standings, extending his lead to 37.64 points over second place John Rahm, with Bryson DeChambeau further back on 136.24 points.
If the Florida resident can secure a sixth victory at LIV Golf Chicago next time out - August 8-10, live on DAZN - then he will seal the individual title.
In the team event, Legions XIII, led by Rahm, secured another impressive victory in England, finishing with a combined -35, eight shots ahead of Torque GC.
That's now a 46.66 lead over Crushers GC in second in the team standings.
With fourth event victories this season, winning the last two, Rahm, Caleb Surratt, Tyrrell Hatton and Tom McKibbin look in unbeatable form as the season comes to a climax.
