Michael Bisping makes worrying assessment on potential Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou match-upDAZN

UFC legend Michael Bisping doubts whether fans will get to see a heavyweight matchup between current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former title holder Francis Ngannou.

Jones claimed the belt that Ngannou vacated back in March, while the latter announced that his future MMA fights will take place in the PFL.

However, the pair teased a possible meeting inside the cage when they went face-to-face last month at a PFL event, but if Jones and Ngannou were to fight each other, there would be a lot of hurdles to overcome.

This did not stop Bisping making a prediction and the 44-year-old believes there is only one winner.

“You've got to pick Jones over Ngannou," Bisping told Betway

"That's not me hating on Francis Ngannou. I'm a huge fan of Francis and his story, but this is Jon Jones we are talking about. And look how effective he was against Ciryl Gane.”

But while Bisping believes that Jones would emerge victorious in a fight with Ngannou, he doubts whether two of MMA's biggest stars will go head-to-head anytime soon.

"But I can't see Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones fighting in the near future," Bisping continued.

"Francis is 37 years old, he's fighting Fury, and he’s then signed to the PFL. And Jon Jones, I believe, is not going to hang around very long.

"He's fighting Miocic in November but I don't think Jones has any intention of sticking around and taking out contenders and nor should he.

"He's been through multiple generations of champions. He's come to heavyweight and he's the champion."
