In one of the most highly anticipated bouts in the latter half of 2020, No. 2-ranked Brian Ortega battles No. 4-ranked "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung from "Fight Island" at the Flash Forum in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. UFC president Dana White has said whoever emerges victorious will net a featherweight title shot against champion Alexander Volkanovski.
Ortega-Jung is almost one year in the making. They were set to clash last December, but Ortega was unable go through with the fight due to a partially torn ACL. Then back in February, Jung did an interview proclaiming Ortega had to bow of their scheduled fight because he was scared to face him. Ortega responded in kind at UFC 248 — as Jung and his wife had headed to the back, Ortega proceeded to slap Jung's translater and entertainer Jay Park. Cooler heads prevailed, and Ortega apologized to Park for the incident.
Ortega steps inside the Octagon for the first time since he lost to then-featherweight champion Max Holloway by fourth-round TKO at UFC 231 to suffer the first defeat of his professional career.
After losing his return bout from a 21-month layoff in an all-time classic against Yair Rodriguez, Jung has reeled off back-to-back stoppage wins over Renato Moicano and Frankie Edgar, respectively.
This has all the makings to be the "Fight of the Year" if Ortega and Jung bring their all-action styles inside the Octagon.
